Sonakshi Sharma

FORMER RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Sonakshi Sharma was a Research Associate at CPR and a part of the State Capacity Initiative. She is currently engaged with studies of bureaucracy and administrative reform, focusing on behavioural norms, organisational culture and the history of administrative reform. She is also interested in issues of diversity in the civil services and understanding the role of ethics in the Indian bureaucracy. She assisted in research on the Indian state’s response to the food crisis brought about by COVID and the associated disruption of livelihoods and mobility.

Prior to joining CPR, she finished her MSc in Social Anthropology, from the London School of Economics. As part of her undergraduate degree, she majored in History from Shiv Nadar University. In her undergraduate and masters studies, she looked at how practices of recruitment and training by the Indian bureaucracy define the ‘ethical IAS officer’.
