The presentation analyses the emergence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the context of systemic changes in the nature of political competition in Delhi.This is done against the back drop of Delhi's unique constitutional position, party system in the state, reasons behind the emergence of AAP and subsequent reversals in its political fortunes.

Adnan Farooqi is Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His academic interests are focused on electoral systems, party systems, and political parties.
